Stampin D'Amour

Hi friends,

I'm thrilled to announce that I will be part of the Stampin D'Amour design team for another 4 months! I love the vintage designs of their sets and can't wait to see what is new!

I do know that you will be seeing some vintage labels over the next couple of weeks and a little birdie told me that there will probably be birthday creations coming up very soon!

I can't believe today is my last post as designer for Stampin' d'Amour! I've had a wonderful 4 months inking up some of the best vintage-inspired images around! Mahalo, Pamela, for having me on your team!

This is a long card and I finally found a format that fits the great tags I love to use so much - business size! I stamped the tag with images from the Vintage Hawaiian clear stamp set, using coral for the hibiscus to give it a pop of color. I distressed the tag with dye ink and used foam squares to pop the tag up a bit. I finished the card with some pretty ribbon that I recently rediscovered in my stash.

I hope you've been as inspired by Stampin' d'Amour as I have and that you will have a chance to ink up some lovely stamps very soon! Also, look for my card published in this summer's Paper Crafts Go-To Sketches for Cardmakers where I've used the SDA Circus Ticket stamp! Fun!

Today is blog hop day at Operation Write Home and I am such a huge fan of the work that Sandy and her team do, I "hopped" all over the chance to participate!

If you are a card maker and have extra cards with no homes, may I suggest donating them to OWH? Our troops love getting handmade cards to send back to their loved ones. Trust me, some of the stories I read on the Hero Blog bring tears to my eyes! Remember to send cards early since they have to make it to our deployed heroes in time to send back in time for the holidays. The deadline for Easter cards is March 18th; Mother's Day cards by March 31st.

I made this Easter card from the lovely Waltzingmouse Stamps Spring Baskets set (there are so many goodies for Easter/Spring cards in this set, you'll love it!) and those cheery Dear Lizzy spring papers. I paper pieced the eggs and the big bow on the basket and colored the basket with a Copic marker. Paper piecing is one of my favorite techniques and so I will be linking this card up to the challenge at Moxie Fab, too!

Easter Blessings

Today is sketch challenge day over at Waltzingmouse and we're proud to welcome another to our Mischief Maker family, Beate Johns! I'm sure you will be inspired by her creations each week! I found this week's sketch to be a bit challenging but finally set on the the nested labels 5 along with VV Labels 5! I can't wait to see what you create with it, too! I've been feeling a bit springy lately and dusted off my Dear Lizzy Spring collection and gave it some love. I thought the bee paper was so cute along with the little bicycles (reminded me so much of our lovely trip to Amsterdam two years ago!) I added some flower ribbon trim and stamped the bees from Li'l Buddies on the same paper, cut them out, and glued them to the ribbon. I think they look so happy on those flowers!

Hero

Happy Friday, friends, who else is happy to sleep in a bit tomorrow? We have a busy weekend planned - crafting and errands for me tomorrow, birthday dinner for our friend tomorrow night, and Sunday is my beginner Copic certification class! I am so excited to learn to use my Copics a bit better. As my friend Wendy said, I tend to color with them like I colored in my coloring books when I was a kid - I just fill in the lines, lol, and sometimes have trouble doing even that!

Today I'm sharing a card with you that I made for VLV Week 1. I flipped the sketch on its side and had a lot of fun using my American Hero set and some new papers from K & Co. Tomorrow I'm participating in a blog hop for Operation Write Home and I thought this would be the perfect warm up post!

Happy Mother's Day

A couple of days ago, Verve had a Diva Inspiration blog hop and it is so fun to see so many beautiful creations with such a variety of sets! In addition to their hop, they set up a little fan hop, too! I didn't have any particular ideas in mind so I closed my eyes, reached into my box of Verve stamps, and pulled out Because of You. I love this set and it is the perfect time of year for a Mother's Day card!

Last night I was working on some Easter projects (check back Saturday to see them!) and had my springy American Crafts papers out. When I spied these in the pile, I thought they'd be a gorgeous backdrop for that pretty floral image. I pieced the flowers twice, popping one up for dimension, added purple seam binding ribbon and a pretty rhinestone button for some sparkle.

Midnight in the Garden

It is Wednesday and that means it is challenge day at Papercraft Star! This week's challenge is to create a project using a song title or book or movie as your inspiration! The sky's the limit here, friends, and I look forward to seeing all of your creations this week!

I've got a trifecta here because one of my favorite books is also one of my favorite movies and soundtracks - Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil! In the 1990s, I had the great fortune of traveling to Savannah a number of times on business and loved every minute of it! Yes, I ate at The Lady & Sons and even bought my cookbook at the restaurant. I heart Paula Deen even if my arteries don't, lol! Savannah is such a beautiful city yet haunting in some ways, just like it is portrayed in the film.

I chose the lacy label and garden sentiment in honor of the movie but decided to lighten up the darker tone of the story by using light, springy colors. With the sun shining here in San Francisco this week, it is hard to feel gloomy at all!
