I'm happy to share this card with you today that is based on this week's sketch over at Waltzingmouse!

I stamped the card base with Text It, cut labels and stamped the sentiment and finished the card with a sticker strip and some wee pearls.

Monkey Birthday

Welcome to another challenge at Papercraft Star! This week we've got a fun sketch and the rest is up to you!
I started off with an adorable digi from Pink Cat Studio, searched for some papers, colored the image to match, and finished the card with a big, yellow bow. As I was making the card, I thought it would be perfect for my newest buddy Elliott's first birthday! I found a small number stamp set and stamped the balloon with a #1. Too cute!

You Light Up My Life

I made this fun anniversary card for my hubby based on this week's Mojo Monday sketch!


January is a special month because it is not only our 4th wedding anniversary, but it is the 7th anniversary of when we met. Collective "awe..." right? :) I put this card together with some fun, tropical-themed papers and Verve stamps that reminded me of our honeymoon on Kauai and the Big Island. In spite of the cold weather today, I'm transported to a giant pool with a meandering stream, lava flows (the beverage as well as actual flows), and luau music outside our hotel window. Good times!

Dance in the Rain

Oh how I love the sketch for this week's Viva La Verve Challenge!! I've been spending a lot of time cleaning up and organizing my crafting space the past week or so and came across a package of never-used long white cards! I honestly can't remember why I bought them but was so happy to see them when I saw this sketch!

I chose coordinating papers, stamped flowers and butterflies on the solids in coordinating ink colors for a subtle effect, stamped and cut out more butterflies, stamped the tag, and tied it with raffia! It is amazing what you can pull together when you know what you have and where you put it! :) It is a bit hard to see in the photo but I used Stickles on the wee butterfly bodies to give them some sparkle and bent them a bit so their wings pop off the card.

Can't wait to see what the Divas have come up with for week 2!

New Year's Resolution

Happy New Year and welcome to the first Papercraft Star challenge of 2011! This week's challenge is to use one of our New Year's Resolutions and incorporate it into a project - what?! As I was thinking about what I was going to make, I found this great digi stamp from Pink Cat Studio (Pink Cat will be sponsoring my challenges for the month of January and there are some cute stamps out there!!) My husband and I have promised to have more fun in 2011 and what could represent fun more than this cute little monkey?

I printed out the digi stamp and colored it with my Copics. Found a sheet of Core'dinations while cleaning out the craft room, embossed and sanded it, and used a blush base for the card. It took me a while to cut out the little monkey but love the way it came out.

Have you ever felt really scattered in your crafty pursuits? Well, I sure have, and quite recently at that! Without going into too many details, there are a few things I've not been doing that I'd like to do and I've started making time for those things again! And, one of the things I've missed is participation in the weekly Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. Thankfully the challenge has been on holiday and I've had some extra time to finish this card!I was reminded of an envelope when I saw this sketch and had the idea to make a card that I pictured would come from a king and be transported by horsemen. I stamped the sentiment in red and used a bit of clear embossing powder to simulate a red, wax seal, distressed the edges of the papers I used, and finished the card with feathers and stick pins fit for royalty!

Ooh La La

Today I'm excited to share with you a card I made with my new French Vintage set from Stampin' D'amour! This is such a versatile set that can be used for cards, tags, and any other vintage project you can think of!

I got a new craft desk for Christmas and have been sorting through and organizing all of my papers and other supplies. Best part of all of this is that it is like shopping in my own home! I've rediscovered a lot of supplies that I forgot I have and this collection from Graphic 45 was the perfect accent for those stamps!

I always do a mockup layout before I commit to a design. This photo shows the background paper I chose, the tag embellishment and the stamped panel so I can decide if I want to rearrange anything before committing to it.

Before using a stamp for the first time, I always perform a test stamp on my blotter paper. That way I can see how it inks and how much pressure to apply before stamping on the final project.

Here I've stamped the panel and applied the lace detail. I used Distress ink and a sponge to add color to the panel to give it an aged feeling.

I still haven't adhered anything to the final card and chose a button to embellish the Eiffel Tower tag. I always cut the shanks off of buttons so they sit flat on the cards using glue dots. When I cut the shanks, they often go flying across the room. I love the sound but don't love stepping on them later while barefoot so I always try to pick them up right away!
