Embossed Snowflakes

Hello friends - I hope you had a wonderful weekend! It is Monday and that means it is challenge day at The Kraft Journal! This week we're challenging you to get started making Christmas cards!

I created this Christmas card using a panel of light craft cardstock that I embossed and brushed with white craft ink. One of the tricks I like when using these vintage-inspired stickers is to stick them on to a piece of cardstock and then cut them out with some scissors. I find that gives them a lot more versatility and dimension. For example, I cut this one out and attached it to the front of the card using foam squares. I finished the card with a seam binding bow and some lovely jingle bells attached with baker's twine.
Something I read out in "blog land" once was why make one card when you can make two? I don't always make multiples but with Christmas right around the corner, I went ahead and made a second one using similar ingredients but because the bow was smaller on this card, I finished it with a button instead of the bigger bells.

I can't wait to see what you create for our challenge this week! Link up by Sunday night for a chance to be named Top 3 and/or to win a $15 voucher for The Kraft Outlet!

Supplies: Cardstock - Light Kraft (The Kraft Outlet), Riding Hood Red (SU!), Salvage Stickers (Tim Holtz), Ink - Craft White (SU!), Seam Binding (7 Gypsies), Twine (The Kraft Outlet), Embossing Folder (Tim Holtz), vintage button, Bells (my stash)

Peace and Joy

Happy Saturday, friends! I hope all of you here in the US had a lovely Thanksgiving and are recovering nicely from all of the food and Black Friday!

Anywhoo, on to the fun at hand, our wonderful Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge -
I loved the idea of making place cards and don't have the alphabet set yet so thought I'd stamp some small sentiments instead. I think this maked these placecards so versatile, especially if you have 2 friends named Peace and 2 friends named Joy... ba dum dum... Seriously, these would be wonderful for a table or also wonderful attached to a package using two sided tape as gift tags!

I am so excited to see all of your creations this week! I've been making scores of tags for holiday packages and can't wait to see what you make! Oh, and if you haven't seen my Thanksgiving post, head over there for a giveaway! I have been so blessed to have so many supplies, my cup (and my craft room) runneth over!

Happy Thanksgiving (and a Giveaway!)

Happy Thanksgiving! This year I am so blessed to be spending the holiday "just the two of us" style with my husband! I certainly miss our family on this special day but we've had a lot going on lately and needed a little getaway of our own!

I am so in love with the "Little Lovin's" stamps from Rubbernecker! Isn't this little pilgrim girl adorable with her little turkey? I don't think that bird has anything to worry about! :) I stamped and colored her with Copics to match the lovely Crate Papers and added some glittery leaves and acorns. The sentiment was stamped in my favorite orange, Dusty Durango.

I have been beyond blessed in my crafty pursuits this year and wanted to share a little back with all of you! You all literally make my day with the lovely comments you leave here and I want to give one of you these two sets of Sassafras cling stamps! All you have to do is leave me a comment on this post by 11:59pm this Sunday (11/27) saying what you're thankful for this year! I can't wait to hear about all of your blessings! :) I'll draw a random number to win these two sets and will announce the winner here on the blog on Tuesday!

Supplies: Stamps - Pilgrim Girl, Thanksgiving Text (Rubbernecker), DP/Border Sticker - Farmhouse Collection (Crate Paper), Cardstock - Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip (SU!), Ink - Dusty Durango, Chocolate Chip (SU!), Leaves (K&Co), Copic Markers, foam squares

Notecard Tutorial

Hello friends! Today is tutorial day at The Kraft Journal and I'm going to show you how to make a set of notecards to go along with this week's "Christmas Gifts" challenge theme.

As a cardmaker, I love to give out sets of cards for others to use. For these, I started out with the lunch bag kraft notecard/envelope set chose some coordinating journaling cards, hemp cord, chipboard banners, ruler twill ribbon, and chipboard milk bottle caps.
I chose the Fly a Kite collection papers from October afternoon and cut them to fit the notecards.
I wanted the banners to coordinate so I traced them onto coordinating papers, cut, out and adhered to the chipboard pieces.
After the banners were covered, I glued them to the hemp twine.
Once I cut the papers down to size, I adhered them to the notecards and glued the ruler ribbon over the seam.
I stamped the journaling cards with some versatile sentiments.
I tied the chipboard milk caps with the hemp cord, layed out the elements, and fastened everything down.
I plan to give this set to my mother in law and think she'll love them and find good uses for all of them!

Supplies: Notecards/Envelopes/Hemp Cord/Ruler Twill Ribbon/Journaling Cards (The Kraft Outlet), DP - Fly a Kite Collection (October Afternoon), Ink - Chocolate Chip (SU!), Tea Dye Duo (PTI), Chipboard Banners/Bottle Caps (Jenni Bowlin)

No Peeking

Happy waltz day, friends!! Today is the 17th and that means a wonderful tour of the friends of Waltzingmouse and tons of crafty inspiration! If you're new to our waltzes, head over to our forum to learn how you can participate next month. You'll also find links to all of the participants today!

Today I have two projects inspired by my new Santa's Coming to Town set which just screams vintage Christmas to me! For these gift tags, I cut two sizes of labels, outlined the red one with a glue pen and added chunky glitter and for the smaller one, I stamped the Santa image and sentiment along with some snowflakes from Compliments of the Season stamped in silver ink. I finished the tags with some red puff balls for the tip of Santa's hat.

To carry on with my vintage theme, I used the same label combo (a coordinating card is the perfect way to use a tag you make a mistake on the back of, lol!) to make a label for the front of the card and used a die cut and some paper from my new Jingle Bells Collection from Pretty Little Studio. Have I mentioned I love vintage? Mid-century to be precise, and WMS and PLS really get it! Love!!

Have fun waltzing along - I'm off for coffee and will join you on the dance floor shortly! :)

Supplies: Stamps - Compliments of the Season, Santa's Coming to Town (WMS), DP/Embellishment (PLS), Ink - Basic Black (SU!), Silver (Encore), Cuttlebug, Labels 4 (Spellbinders), Chunky Glitter (Martha Stewart), Cardstock - Confetti, Riding Hood Red (SU!), Corner Chomper

Happy Birthday, Steven!

Hello! Today I have a card to share with you that I made for my step-dad's birthday! He's a big outdoorsman so I thought this Campy Trails collection would be a fun background for these wonderful Rubbernecker stamps! I stamped the Candle Set on to some cream cardstock, colored them with my Copics, and then added some Stickles for a bit of sparkle. I finished the card with some cardstock stickers from the same collection and stamped the Make A Wish text at the bottom.

For any of you who haven't hopped along with us yet, we're still hopping until tomorrow so head over to the Rubbernecker Stamps blog to get started! Yep, there's a prize for one lucky commenter, too!! :)

Gingerbread Man

Hello friends! If it is Monday, it is time for another challenge at The Kraft Journal! This week it is all about "sweet treats and baker's twine!" I incorporated both into this card featuring a red and white theme complete with matching twine and a cute little gingerbread man. I think he's sweet, don't you? :)

I started with a light kraft card base and added some coordinating holiday papers from my new Peppermint Collection from Crate Paper (love them!!) I then chose a shaped tag that I used as the background for the cute cardstock sticker of the gingerbread man. I finished the card with some seam binding, baker's twine, paper tape, and some festive stick pins.

I can't wait to see what you create this week and don't forget you'll have a chance at a Kraft Outlet gift certificate just by playing along!

I layered the panel over some plaid paper on a red card base, tied a bow around the card and attached a glittery star.

Make a Wish

Hello friends! Did I say it was going to be a busy week here or what? I haven't been used to making so many projects because October was such a crazy month with work and other stuff going on. I think I'm making up for it now! :)

I made this card for a special birthday using some great new Rubbernecker Stamps and I really hope she likes it! I have recently rediscovered my Afternoon Muse kit and have been having so much fun with the circus-themed papers! The color palette is muted which gives it a vintage feeling I love!

I stamped the present twice onto two different patterned papers, cut them out, and then cut out the ribbon of one and adhered it to the other with foam tape. I love the dimension it gives to the bow! I used a bit of stickles for the dots and finished the card with the "make a wish" sentiment, some blue tickets, and a touch of shabby ribbon.

Supplies: Stamps - Present, Wish Text (RN), DP - Afternoon Muse Collection (Glitz Design), Ribbon (MemrieMare), vintage button, Twine (PTI), Tickets (TKO), Stickles, foam squares, Ink - Chocolate Chip (SU!)

Be Mine...Valentine

Hello, friends! Today I have the honor of sharing a card I made as the inspiration for this week's Operation Write Home Valentine/love-themed challenge! Wow, what an honor to be asked to participate with an organization I love to support!

I've recently unearthed my Afternoon Muse kit and love all of the papers and embellishments! I started with a harlequin-print background paper in muted pinks and cream, stamped the heart tag onto a coordinating pink paper and layered it over a playing card embellishment. I finished the card with a heart sticker, transluscent banner, and a touch of ribbon.

Thanks for visiting and if you haven't heard of OWH, I encourage you to check it out!
